Welcome to
The farm Café and Crêperie
Café and Crêperie
In Mellomgården's cozy café & crêperie you can enjoy galettes, light lunches, freshly baked waffles and swedish “gofika” – homemade from locally produced ingredients. For the children there is a sandbox, train track, drawing board and large grass areas to play on while you let the tranquility appear – here it is easy to sit for hours, with the lovely view of the meadows around Lake Hornborgasjön.
Perhaps there is an exciting exhibition underway in our art gallery, maybe it is soon time for some live music, maybe the cranes land by the lake – at Mellomgården there are always new experiences!
Indoors, we have a maximum of 107 places including the art gallery, plus 50 seats outdoors when the weather shows from its happiest side. If you come by electric car, we have a free charging point in the courtyard when the café is open!
Check out our wonderful menu.
Crêperie in the countryside
In the spring of 2020 we opened our creperie, which has been a success.
In the summer of 2019, we visited Järvsö creperie and experienced a taste sensation that we could not forget, said and done. We bought 2 crepe irons and stood and practiced and tested different ingredients until we were satisfied.
March 2020 we served our first galettes and since that day we have had many visitors who have appreciated this very much. As one guest said, it was ridiculously good!
Galettes, what is it?
Galettes originated in Brittany, France, and are a middle ground between thin crêpes and our regular pancakes. They are baked on buckwheat flour and are not as sweet as crêpes. The fillings are usually of the more filling kind, but we at Mellomgården also make dessertgalettes of crêpe type – also made from a batter of KRAV-grown buckwheat flour and thus also gluten-free.
If you have been a tourist in Europe, you may have encountered galettes before – or if you have been to Gotland, where they have a stronghold. For many others, they may be something waiting to become a new favorite.
For our part, it started with Mattias being on a hunting trip in Hälsingland, where delicious galettes were served. "We have to take this home to Skaraborg," he thought, and once back, one recipe was composed after another. Two of them, the boar galette and the shrimp galette, have already become classics on our menu that many return to enjoy again and again.
